This month the Emma Britton show on BBC Radio Bristol have been celebrating local organisations that have been recognised as “outstanding”. In the final interview of the series they came to talk to our Lead Nurse, Sheila Shatford, and Lead GP, Dr Mike Taylor, from BrisDoc’s Homeless Health Service.
In the interview, Sheila describes the challenging but rewarding nature of working in the service and described the act of washing the feet of homeless patients one of the most ‘magical’ thing you can do. Aside from the therapeutic and health benefits of the treatment there is also a fascinating and unexpected side effect that this show of kindness can have on these patients.
You can hear the full (5 minute) interview in full on the BBC website for the next 12 days. The segment starts at around 1 hr 52 minutes.
