HANDi Paediatric App
The HANDi Paediatric App is a new app that has been launched across Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset to provide advice and support to parents and carers if their children have symptoms of common childhood illnesses. The HANDi App offers simple and straightforward advice on what to do and who to contact when a child is unwell. It includes illness-specific home assessment guidelines for six common childhood illnesses:
- Diarrhoea and vomiting
- High temperature
- Chesty baby (Bronchiolitis)
- Chesty child (Wheeze and Asthma)
- Abdominal pain
- Common newborn problems
Each of the six illnesses has a home care plan to help parents and carers provide the best support for their child, and give them confidence in caring for their children when they are unwell. Dr Kirsty Alexander, GP and clinical lead for children at Bristol Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “The HANDi App is a great way for parents and carers to access really important information about common childhood illnesses, at any time from their smart phone or tablet. “We hope it empowers parents and carers to feel confident in caring for their unwell child, and to find the right support where and when they need it.” You can download the HANDi App for Android phones from Google Play. If you have an iPhone, from the iPhone app store or iTunes, using the search term HANDi App
