Non-Executive Chair of the Board and Trust Director
Help shape the future of care, with the people who deliver it.
Where you choose to bring your leadership matters. At BrisDoc, your experience and independent judgement could help shape the future of an employee-owned organisation providing care that communities rely on every day.
Annual retainer: £40,000
Time commitment: Approximately two days per week on average
Location: Bristol, with a combination of in-person and remote working
Why BrisDoc?
We are a social enterprise delivering NHS urgent and primary care across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire, with some services extending across the wider South West. From round-the-clock urgent care to specialist support for people experiencing homelessness, our work is rooted in responding to people’s needs.
Around 600 colleagues are co-owners, with a voice in our future. With annual income of approximately £30 million, we combine the responsibilities of a substantial healthcare provider with a strong local identity and a clear purpose: patient care by people who care.
As our founding Chair steps down after 25 years, we are looking for someone who will bring fresh perspective and help the Board make thoughtful choices about what comes next.
The contribution you could make
You will lead an inclusive, effective Board and build a relationship with our Chief Executive grounded in trust, support and constructive challenge. Your judgement will help us pursue opportunities that improve care while sustaining the services people depend on today.
You will help ensure that patients’ experiences and co-owners’ perspectives inform our direction, and that our values are reflected in how decisions are made. This calls for commercial judgement alongside a commitment to compassionate care.
Could this be your next contribution?
You will bring previous experience as a Chair or Non-Executive Director, significant Board-level governance experience in a complex organisation, and the ability to chair effectively. We welcome different professional backgrounds. NHS experience is desirable, rather than essential.
