Meet our leadership team
Dr Kathy Ryan: BrisDoc Medical Director
Joined BrisDoc: 2015
Previously: Clinical Director of Primary Care, Wirral Community NHS Trust
About: I was born and brought up in Merseyside, and have a sharp sense of humour to match. I qualified as a doctor in 1987. I have had a wide range of clinical and non-clinical experience, such as A&E, palliative medicine, community paediatrics and research management.
My mission as Medical Director: My mission is to practise good medicine. Good medicine entails ensuring that the whole system works properly; monitoring and improving care quality and patient experience; and fostering an open learning environment. I seek to enable staff to feel supported and valued.
Find me: I work clinically in Out-of-Hours and in Northville Family Practice.
Nigel Gazzard: BrisDoc Managing Director
Joined BrisDoc: 2005
Previously: Financial Services background and running own Leadership consultancy
Additional roles: Director of Applied Healthcare Solutions Ltd; Trustee for the National Parenting Initiative
About: I was born in Bristol and apart from spells working in other locations including Scotland, I have committed to living and working in this area. I achieved a Masters Degree in Leadership in 2002, and a Diploma from the Institute of Directors in 2015. I have a wide range of experience covering service delivery, operational system design, corporate governance, finance and leadership and remain keen to learn as there is always something new to consider!
My mission as Managing Director: My mission is to provide and build a great organisation for patient service and for staff, which delivers on its commitments! Delivering a great service requires a focus on patients, quality, workforce and resources, all working together with our colleagues across the NHS to live up to our commitment to “patient care by people who care”. Teamwork is key and I aim to provide a safe, supportive, learning environment in which staff can thrive and provide excellent care to the community we serve.
Find me: I work from our Head Office at Osprey Court, although I always enjoy visiting our services.
Dr Ray Montague: BrisDoc Executive Chairman
Founded BrisDoc: 2001
Additional roles: Senior Partner at Hillview Family Practice, Director of One Care Consortium
About: I was brought up on both sides of the Atlantic, and still swim as much as I can. I also love my music and enjoy jazz and blowing my own trumpet. I trained as a GP in Exeter and have been at my practice in Hartcliffe for 24 years. I helped start BrisDoc and remain in awe of how far it has progressed since those simple beginnings.
My mission as Executive Chairman: To enthuse and support everyone throughout the organisation, from the Board of Directors to staff on the front line in the important endeavour of delivering “patient care by people who care”; and to keep throwing in the odd idea every now and then, to keep us on our toes.
Find me: I do a clinical shift most weekends and am at Osprey Court Head Office most Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons.
