Bristol Hospitality Network (BHN) provide full board accommodation and support to asylum seekers in Bristol. They do a fantastic job of  supporting some of the most vulnerable and neglected people in our society. They recently sent us a letter to thank us for our donation.

“A little over a year ago, BrisDoc’s Community Fund awarded Bristol Hospitality Network a very generous £12,000 donation.

Your donation has enabled us to continue to run our welcome centre which has grown to support up to 90 asylum seekers and refugees each week. The welcome centre is open from 12-3pm and provides a delicious hot lunch either from Somalia or Iran, volunteer expenses to help our asylum seeking and refugee volunteers to get to our centre by bus to volunteer throughout the year, tea and coffee and snacks for people who come hungry and some English teaching resources for our volunteer teachers. It has also enabled us to pay staff to coordinate a hosting network of over 15 host families who provide 24/7 accommodation and support to destitute asylum seekers in their own homes.

Mahmoud, one of our members, recently said what BHN meant to him:

‘Before I was in BHN I was like a wild goat. I had no place to sleep, no roof over my head. But now I am in a family. BHN is like our mother and father and brother and sister’.

All this is possible for our welcome centre members and also those we host in our network of host families and men’s hostel because of your support and your help. You have made a difference to some of Bristol’s most vulnerable residents. Our door is always open to all the staff at BrisDoc for a hot lunch or cup of tea. Do pop in.”
