The right care, at the right time, in the right place
With an aim of combating the continual pressures felt across the local care system and an ambition to deliver the ‘right care, at the right time, in the right place’, changes are being made to extend SevernSide’s Clinical Assessment Service – CAS (our clinical and operational team who triage and treat patients via telephone and video) to become part of the plans for a wider ‘System CAS‘.
The ‘System CAS’ will bring together clinicians from other providers to work within Severnside, with a specific focus on patients identified by NHS111 as needing Hospital or an Ambulance. The aim of this work is to ensure that only patients who truly need Hospital or an Ambulance use these pathways and those who are appropriate are managed via an alternative service, for example, Severnside or an Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) or Minor Injuries unit (MIU). Being in the System CAS will bring the benefit of our embedded infrastructure and operational expertise to give clinicians the confidence and support they need.
The first steps of the System CAS kicked off this month when Sirona clinicians from the UTC came to work with us in Osprey Court. They will be in Osprey from 8am-8pm Saturday, Sundays and Bank Holidays.
The System CAS provides a great opportunity for collaboration with our system partners, shared clinical expertise and enable us to provide the best care for our patients.
