This month, we had the honour of attending the prestigious UK Social Enterprise Awards. We were shortlisted in the ‘Innovation of the Year’ category for our collaborative work in the Mental Health Integrated Access Partnership (IAP).
The Mental Health IAP is an innovative approach to urgent and emergency mental health care in the South-West. It’s a collaborative effort involving BrisDoc’s Integrated Urgent Care Service, the South Western Ambulance Service, Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership, and other key organisations.
The success of the IAP largely comes from its patient-centred approach. Providing early access to mental health professionals has improved patient experiences, reducing waiting times and the need for multiple healthcare provider interactions.
Our approach to handling mental health calls to 999 and NHS111 is a key part of our innovation. By integrating mental health clinical triage into these services, patients get timely, appropriate care, often avoiding unnecessary ambulance dispatches or emergency department visits.
Although we didn’t clinch the top spot this time, we are incredibly proud of our Mental Health Integrated Access Partnership team for being shortlisted as a finalist. This recognition is a win in itself, highlighting our commitment to innovative and compassionate healthcare. Congratulations to all the winners and finalists. It was an honour to be among such inspiring social enterprises.
We thank our partners and staff for their continuous support and collaboration. We remain dedicated to improving healthcare delivery and positively impacting the lives of those we serve.
