Celebrating Dr Mike Taylor’s Remarkable Achievements
Shortlisted for the “Who Cares Wins” National Awards
We are elated to announce that our very own Dr Mike Taylor was shortlisted as a finalist for the prestigious “Who Cares Wins” national awards in the category of Doctor of the Year. Although he did not clinch the top spot, being recognised on such a platform speaks volumes about his dedication and service.
A Unique Service in the Heart of Bristol
Operating one of the UK’s only GP surgeries dedicated solely to the homeless, Dr Taylor’s commitment at the Homeless Health Service in Stokes Croft, Bristol, has been unwavering. What began with 60 patients six years ago now caters to over 600 homeless individuals, showcasing the significant impact of his work.
Addressing the Gap in Homeless Healthcare
Many homeless individuals face barriers in accessing regular GPs, but the Homeless Health has bridged this gap. Offering a drop-in service, his practice addresses the complex health needs of the homeless, often related to drug or alcohol dependencies and cognitive impairments.
An Ever-expanding Service
Thanks to Dr Taylor’s leadership, the service now boasts an array of professionals, from podiatrists to counsellors. As practice manager Dixine Douis highlighted, “It’s not been easy, but Mike has been pivotal.”
A Note of Appreciation
Dr Taylor’s work extends beyond medicine; it’s about offering respect, dignity, and hope. We are incredibly proud of his achievements and the recognition he’s received. Even without the award, in our eyes, he’s truly a winner.
