According to Public Health England, 1 in 6 adults will have experienced a common mental health disorder in the past week. That is a lot of people! But sadly, as a nation we still don’t feel comfortable talking about it.
At BrisDoc, we want to make it easier for our staff to seek support for mental health issues. Following on from Mental Health Awareness Week (13th – 19th May 2019), we are pleased to announce the introduction of Mental Health First Aiders across all of our services.
A Mental Health First Aider is a member of staff who has undertaken specialist training to be a go-to person for anyone who is going through some form of mental health issue. The Mental Health first aider will be present to help guide the person in distress to the relevant help that they need in a confidential manner. They will also have the relevant knowledge to be able to spot someone who is developing a mental health issue and know what to do should the problem escalate.
