Over the past 3 years, the BrisDoc Community Fund has been supporting an ambitious project to build a brand new primary care health centre in Kampala, one of the poorest, most neglected and under resourced areas of Uganda.
This month we had a visit from two of the project leaders, Dr. Mike Godward and Mrs Beryl Godwood, who gave us an update on the progress of the project. The main structure of the building is now in place as seen in the picture above and although more funding is required to finish the entire health centre, the plan is to finish off the space on the ground floor to house parts of the service as soon as possible.
It is anticipated that the ground floor will accommodate a pharmacy, dental surgery, laboratory and the maternity and children’s wards.
