Marvin Rees, the Mayor of Bristol, kindly attended a talk this month on alcohol addiction from Dr Clare Fleming (GP at BrisDoc’s Homeless Health Service) to give his personal thanks to Clare who is sadly retiring from the service after giving 10 years of dedicated, selfless service to some of the most deprived and needy people in Bristol.
Aside from treating homeless patients at the Compass Centre on Jamaica Street, Clare has spent many years running a weekly outreach clinic at the Wild Goose Café. This ‘Wet clinic’ allows patients with alcohol addiction to see a GP whilst still under the influence of alcohol. Without this sort of outreach clinic, patients with these sort of life-controlling issues may rarely get the healthcare they need.
Clare has always applied principles of unquenchable HOPE, relentless KINDNESS and authentic TRUTH to the homeless population of Bristol.
From all the team at BrisDoc and the Homeless Health Service, we wish you all the best in your retirement.
