What is the Integrated Urgent Care Service?
SevernSide Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) is a new 24/7 NHS Urgent Care Service which combines NHS 111 and GP Out of Hours service. It launches on 2nd April 2019. We will serve patients across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. Patients access the service using NHS 111 and NHS 111 online.
The service provides:
- 24/7 Navigation for patients to the most appropriate service to meet their needs
- 24/7 Clinical Assessment Service (CAS) to provide clinical telephone consultations for patients and to support healthcare professionals in the community
- Out of hours face to face appointments at Treatment Centres
- Out of hours home visits when appropriate
The IUC service is called SevernSide, a partnership between BrisDoc Healthcare Services (provider of GP Out of Hours since 2001) and Care UK (the current provider of NHS111 in this area).
Who is the service for and when is it appropriate for patients to contact NHS111?
NHS 111 is suitable for patients who are unsure where to go for medical advice, or for patients with urgent health conditions that cannot wait until their daytime GP surgery is available to help. This is not an emergency service – for a medical emergency or life-threatening condition patients should always dial 999 or attend a local A&E service.
