This is a national awareness campaign run by the Self Care Forum. The aim of the week is for people-facing organisations (such as GP surgeries, CCGs, pharmacies, dentists, local authorities and the voluntary and community sector), to use it as a focus to increase people’s ability to self care and improve their levels of health literacy.

In an impassioned speech which drew a standing ovation at the recent COP26 conference, Sir David Attenboroug warned that humanity was "already in trouble" because of rising carbon levels in the atmosphere.

With an aim of combating the continual pressures felt across the local care system and an ambition to deliver the  'right care, at the right time, in the right place', changes are being made to extend SevernSide's Clinical Assessment Service - CAS (our clinical and operational team who triage and treat patients via telephone and video) to become part of the plans for a wider 'System CAS'.

One25 is a Bristol women’s charity which reaches out to some of the city’s most marginalised women, many who are trapped in street sex work. BrisDoc's Homeless Health Service are proud to support the charity by providing weekly on-site clinics run by Dr Lucy Potter & Dr Elaine Driver.

We are excited to announce the very first BrisDoc Co-owners Council meeting took place this month. Representation from all areas for BrisDoc came together to discuss the purpose of the Co-owners Council and how it can best serve all BrisDoc Co-owners and patients alike.

BrisDoc's Wellbeing Team put together some nice little hampers in aid of World Mental Health Day on the 10th October. The hampers were distributed to all bases and practices with the hope that everyone would be able to take a break and make use of some of the goodies.

October marks Black History Month and we take the opportunity to celebrate some of the many people from African and Caribbean backgrounds that have been a fundamental part of British history.

The money was donated to a few charities including PROPS, who provide opportunities and support for young adults with disabilities, and Friends of Bristol Haematology & Oncology Centre.

This month has seen the launch of the new SevernSide IUC Weekday Professional Line Service for GPs referring to Weston General Hospital, adding to the service already provided for NBT admissions. The team of Call Handlers and Clinicians work from Osprey Court Monday to Friday 8am - 6:30 supporting Healthcare Professionals who are considering an adult medical admission or needing urgent clinical advice?
