The NHS is one of Britain’s greatest achievements but a lot has changed since it was created in 1948. Health and care leaders have come together to develop a Long Term Plan to make the NHS fit for the future, and to get the most value for patients out of every pound of taxpayers’ investment.

Going the extra mile in memory of David Farrar
Members of the BrisDoc Acute GP Team participated in various events last month to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. The team were raising money in memory of an esteemed colleague Dr David Farrar who sadly passed away last year from myocarditis. The Team have managed to raise over £500 so far and there is still time to make a last minute donation via the teams JustGiving page.

Bristol Half Marathon: Team Belinda smashed it!
Team Belinda, made up of Danielle Townsend, Liz Turner, Jess Turner and Phil Clarke all successfully completed the Bristol Half Marathon yesterday in memory of Belinda Clarke who passed away in February this year after sadly losing her battle to cancer. The team would like to share a HUGE THANK YOU for all the donations and words of encouragement.

Stoptober is back for its eighth year to help smokers break the habit of a lifetime. Trying to quit smoking can be one of the hardest things to do, but with the right amount of support and advice, you can do it!

Congratulations to Charlotte Keel's Lead Nurse, Liz Turner who has been nominated for an award in the General Practice Awards 2019.

Further support for the Wellsprings Project in Uganda
BrisDoc's Community Fund have just approved further financial support to Wellspring to enable them to open the ground floor of the new Health Clinic and move from the current location. The current facilities that the team are working in are very cramped with just two consulting rooms (without wash basins), a corridor which doubles as a treatment room and a small bedded area at the rear of the building.

Congratulations to Claire O'Connell who is part of our superb nursing team at BrisDoc's Homeless Health Service. Claire has been recognised by the Queen's Nursing Institute with an award for Innovation & Leadership for the successful development of the 'Five Ways to Wellbeing' program.
